Research 2.0 is not an invest­ment bank, broker/dealer or reg­is­tered invest­ment advi­sor.  We do not make invest­ment rec­om­men­da­tions or directly han­dle client money.  Every­thing we do is for infor­ma­tion pur­poses only and we run our busi­ness as an inde­pen­dent research firm (like Gart­ner Group) with a busi­ness and invest­ment perspective.

Research 2.0 does not solicit inter­est in or deal in any way with invest­ment secu­ri­ties.  We may make intro­duc­tions between com­pa­nies and investors but never act as an inter­me­di­ary or bro­ker capac­ity.  Again every­thing we do is for enlight­en­ment and infor­ma­tional pur­poses only.

Square Deal­ing Rules

Research 2.0 has imple­mented a set of rules and poli­cies to ensure high integrity prac­tices and fair deal­ing with both our clients and the gen­eral pub­lic. Here are some examples:

  • Research 2.0 pro­tects con­fi­den­tial and pri­vate infor­ma­tion and requires all employ­ees work­ing on client projects to have signed agree­ments in place with us to ensure every­one on the team is in compliance.
  • The com­pany and employ­ees dis­close infor­ma­tion like a stock posi­tion or fee arrange­ment directly in pub­lished con­tent.  Our phi­los­o­phy is that if a research ana­lyst should be free to own their absolute best invest­ment ideas.  But that own­er­ship needs to be dis­closed and sub­ject to some spe­cial rules.
  • Employ­ees are required to dis­close trans­ac­tions in com­pa­nies that are Research 2.0 clients or that we pub­lish research on or plan to pub­lish on in the near term.

Our aim is to be open and pro­fes­sional about our inter­ests and align them with our pay­ing clients.  Mar­ket par­tic­i­pants, play­ers and moti­va­tions are myr­iad and often con­flict­ing.  Our focus is on illu­mi­nat­ing long-term invest­ment sto­ries and help­ing our clients take advan­tage of them.   At any point before, dur­ing and after the process R2 and employ­ees are per­mit­ted to include com­pa­nies in model port­fo­lios and per­sonal hold­ings sub­ject to the dis­clo­sure require­ments noted above.

Busi­ness Practices

Our con­tracts and sub­scrip­tion agree­ments are designed to limit risk and make it easy to start and stop projects and engage­ment with R2.  Most of our research sub­scrip­tions are monthly and can be can­celled at any­time.  Our spon­sored research has clear mile­stones and quar­terly pay­ments and can also be can­celled anytime.

At present R2 is a vir­tual com­pany with our team work­ing online every­day rather than in a spe­cific office loca­tion.  Addi­tion­ally mem­bers of R2 work on free­lance and works-for-hire basis.  This has given us great flex­i­bil­ity in meet­ing client demands for work with low and vari­able costs.  As we grow we will add to our fixed cost basis with care and restraint.
