ZAGG (NASDAQ: ZAGG) January 13, 2012 - Known as a maker of electronics casings, screen protectors and accessories ZAGG has a strong position in the emerging technology of nano-based coatings that can render internal electronics (in the case of HzO) highly water resistant. The shares have appreciated from $8 when we published this but remain below our $14 IV estimate.
Harris & Harris Update January 9 2012 - Includes a closer look at two of the four new H&H portfolio companies: HzO and Senova Systems. HzO is pioneering a nanocoatings technology for electronic devices and other applications. There is a large, untapped market opportunity for HzO to offer con-sumers protection for their electronics against water and moister damage. ZAGG is an investor in the company and its marketing prowess and established presence in the consumer electronics market makes for a potent partnership with HzO. Senova Systems is bringing an innovative, nano-enabled technology for measuring pH to the market that has the ability to be very disruptive.
D-Wave on a Path to Commercialize Quantum Computing, November 2011 - Richard Feynman was one of the first to suggest that quantum computers would the most natural and productive way to solve many thorny problems, especially when they were manifest in physics and natural laws. Quantum computing is complex and controversial so it takes quite a bit of time to get to the bottom of it all. This report was a challenge and a great pleasure to put together. Having our office next to MIT certainly helped a great deal. Commercial quantum computing is likely to become a big deal in the next few years.
Nanosys Private Company Report — November 2011 - Nanosys was the poster child for nanotechnology and suffered from the premature hype surrounding the technology. The company even filed for an IPO well before it was ready. But years later the company has continued to develop and move a range of technologies into commercialization. Our IV analysis suggests Nanosys could reach a valuation of $700M in 2012.

Laser Light Engines June 2011 - Inadequate brightness is a major obstacle for the cinema industry to deliver more vivid films. Laser Light Engines can deliver laser-based lighting to replace the current light bulbs and usher in new age of highly performant and much more efficient projectors. Better quality at lower cost will drive adoption and unit volumes will bring down price points.
Solazyme Report May 2011 - Solazyme is harnessing the power of algae to convert organic materials and feedstocks into a broad variety of engineered oils, speciality chemicals and even foodstuffs. Their approach and operating team promises scale production and competitive costs. Partnerships with very large end-market players help elevate returns on invested capital. Our IV is $20.
Metabolon Private Company Profile May 2011 - Medical diagnostics have been a major part of the healthcare industry but have tended to use a very basic and broad approach. Today most of the innovations in diagnostics are in areas of increasing specificity and personalization. By using small molecules and superior analysis technology it’s possible to understand the physiology of cells.
